The Association of Medical Councils of Africa (AMCOA) is an Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities in Africa. The primary purpose of the association is to support medical regulatory authorities in Africa in the protection of the public interest by promoting high standards of medical education, registration, and regulation, and facilitating the ongoing exchange of information among medical regulatory authorities.
AMCOA is mainly attracting members from the “Anglophone” countries on the continent. Twenty-one (21) countries out of fifty-four (54) potential member countries on the African continent have taken membership of the association.
The twenty-one countries are spread amongst the three development regions of the continent, namely – East African bloc, West African bloc, and the Southern African bloc.
